While browsing the net today, I was able to check out the I'm Not There trailer for the upcoming movie. I have not always been a fan of movies that are based on musicians, but I'm Not There appears to be worth checking out. It tells a different story about the life of famous singer/musician, Bob Dylan. Ok, if you are reading this and may think all of a sudden "why would I want to see this movie?" just relax for a minute. Everyone may not listen to Bob Dylan's songs (I know I don't), but just about everyone should know who he is. That is of course if you have been living on a remote island for this entire century. There are more coll point to this film than you might think.

I know that I said that I'm not a fan of musician movies, but some of them are actually cool such as Ray and Walk The Line. If the Bob Dylan factor doesn't interest you, consider who made the film. Todd Haynes is reason enough to go see I'm Not There. He is talented and while this film director does not put out numerous movies all of the time, these flicks are worth checking out when he does. Now, I will take into consideration that all of you may not be familiar with Todd Haynes.

Now let's have a 101 course on this director. Once upon a time, he produced a film about singer/drummer, Karen Carpenter using Barbie dolls. While it has become one of his most talked about works and was even on the list of Entertainment Weekly's "Top 50 Cult Films of All-Time", its not available at Blockbuster or any of the legal retail outlets. This means that more than likely, if you haven't seen it, more than likely you WON'T. I say more than likely because Todd Haynes got into trouble with Mattel and Karen Carpenter's brother because of the film. Therefore, it cannot be sold or distributed. You can only get it on bloogleg and even that can be tricky as Superstar: The Karen Carpenter Story has been out of circulation. Most times, bootleg movies should NOT be purchased, but if you can get this film somehow, it is something worth checking out. Now that you have a little 411 on Todd Haynes and I'm Not There, consider going to see this movie. The I'm Not There release date is November 21, 2007.
