Vincent D'Onofrio Crowned King Dong of September '08

Vincent D'Onofrio is best known currently for his role as Detective Robert Goren on the NBC TV show Law & Order: Criminal Intent, also what us supporting fans like to call..."Law & Order:CI". His celebratory poem will be introduced next week, as he is the new King Dong of September 2008 here on the Madlab Post. It seems that Vincent D'Onofrio has been working on other projects in addition to the Law & Order: Criminal Intent gig. Here are a few tidbits on his latest projects:

The Narrows

Vincent D'Onofrio has a starring role in what is being called a "coming-of-age story combines suspense, murder and loyalty". Considering this bit from the synopsis, The Narrows may be right up his alley when it comes to the storyline and vibe of this movie. Suspense: He's used to it while trying to solve cases on Law & Order: Criminal Intent, Murder: Yeah, Vincent D'Onofrio has been around his fair share of this particular crime on his popular TV show, and Loyalty: That's what he and his female partner are all about. She may actually be the only one who understands AND can put up with the sometimes outrageous antics of Detective Robert Goren.

Anyway, The Narrows appears to be scheduled for release later this year, but may not be widely available. Therefore, it may only be playing in arthouse theaters or in main movie theaters for a limited time. The Narrows will also be playing at the Toronto Film Festival this year on Monday, September 8th which is next week. Here is a briefing on the synopsis for this movie from the Toronto Film Festival's film lineup - Mike Manadoro (Kevin Zegers) has come to a crossroads in his life. Only twenty years old, he is torn between two paths, two women and two worlds. The choices he makes in a few short weeks will dictate his future. The Narrows also stars Sophia Bush, who is known for her role of Brooke on the TV show One Tree Hill. This movie was filmed in New York.

It's a Myspace Profile Contest!

This celebration will last for the entire month. I am running a Myspace Profile contest, starting today. This competition is open to all U.S. residents who have a Myspace profile. All who are interested in winning can enter immediately followig these tidbits on this Myspace Profile Contest:


Prizes
Winners will be announced here on the Madlab Post. Prizes and an official Myspace badge will be issued to the winner of this contest. Runner up badges will also be issued in each category.

Winners will receive a 1-year subscription to Rolling Stone magazine.

How to Enter
Step 1: So, you have the best Myspace profile. That is great but how am I supposed to know about it? You know that blogging feature on Myspace?, Well, now is the time to utilize it and win prizses. Entries must be completed by posting a blog entry on your Myspace profile explaining why your profile is the best.

Step 2: The blog post must be titled "MP Myspace Profile Contest" or "Madlab Post Myspace Profile Contest" in order to be eligible for selection as the Best Myspace Profile. It must remain on your Myspace profile for 30 days or the closing of this contest, whichever is shorter. Once you have posted your Myspace blog post, leave a comment here on the Madlab Post blog with the URL address of your blog entry.

You must be over 15 years of age to enter. If you are under 18 years of age, it is recommended to ask your Parent OR Guardian for permission before participating in this contest. Only one entry per Myspace member. You cannot enter more than one Myspace profile. Profiles that contain derogatory graphics or messages are ineligible to participate in this Myspace Profile Contest.

Judging criteria will include the following categories:
1. Design of the Myspace profile
2. About Me Section
3. Interests & Hobbies
4. Myspace profile photo
5. Myspace profile layout
*Extra points may be given for entertainment (Music tracks, Graphics, videos, etc.) ONLY at the judges discretion.

Points Scale: 1=Fair 3=Attractive 5=Best

Eligibility
You must have a Myspace profile that was created before August 1, 2008. Some Myspace members have a private profile. If your Myspace profile is private, you must either make it public until September 30, 2008 OR add ME as a friend so that the contest panel of judges will be able to review your Myspace profile in consideration for prizes.

The Madlab Post Myspace Profile Contest begins on Labor Day which is Monday, September 1, 2008 (Today) and will close on Tuesday, September 30, 2008.

This Week at Film Festivals: August 28-31, 2008

Here is a list of entertaining films to check out around the U.S. at film festivals. Some of these movie screenings may not be part of a festival, but part of some kind of movie screening series, which is great because you now have even more options to choose from. Some of these screenings are FREE, so there is something to do even if you don't have a lot of money this week:

Los Angeles, California
The short film MADISON CLASS OF '64 will be playing at the Silent Movie Theater on Thursday, August 28th at 10:00AM. Admission is $15.

Richmond, Virginia
The following films will be playing during the Silent Music Revival:
Moonland (1931) and Lullaby (1936) on Thursday, August 28th
at Firehouse Theatre at 9:00pm (sharp). This is a free screening.
