Corn Casserole and A (Steven King or Steve Balderson) Movie

'C' is for "Corn Casserole" in this A to Z challenge post.

Allow me to offer you some Dinner and a Movie choices based on two films that come to mind when Corn Casserole is the subject of the moment:

Children of the Corn,A to Z Challenge

Children of the Corn
Some relatives introduced me to this movie when I was younger and after watching "Children of the Corn", I added it to my list of the scariest movies ever made. Some of you may disagree and if so, you've probably watched more horror films than I. Therefore, I welcome you to contest this in the comments section of this post by letting me know what you think is one of the scariest films ever.....and this movie MUST be better than "Children of the Corn"...or else, why even mention it?

Steve Balderson,A to Z Challenge,Casserole Club

Casserole Club
Ironically, director Steve Balderson's upcoming film about housewives in the 60s centers around food....specifically, casseroles. That makes this flick a perfect choice for your dinner and a movie activities. You could also plan a themed party around the film for your friends or close family members.

Steve Balderson,A to Z Challenge,Casserole Club
The "Casserole Club" stars Karen Black and Kevin Richardson from the Backstreet Boys. This movie is scheduled for a 2011 release, so you can plan ahead to have a night out on the town by checking out a "Casserole Club" screening if it plays in or near your town OR you can order the DVD for a night in, whenever the DVD is released.

Here is the "Casserole Club" Movie Trailer to enjoy in the meantime:

No Dinner and a Movie night would complete without food of course, so if you're interested in trying something new, skip the popcorn and soda in favor of this corn casserole recipe by Paula Dean that I found from the Food Network while doing a search to find out if such a dish even exists (yeah, um, I've never had any type of casserole before, let alone corn casserole).

Thanks to Tossing It Out for running such a fun and challenging series.

I haven't heard of this movie. My scariest movie is The House of Ushers. I know. I'm complaining about nothing.(::

Tea, I'll have to read up on The House of Ushers. Can't say that I've heard of it before though but the movie title seems a little familiar.

There are a few different Children of the Corn movies. The producers made sequels but I did not watch all of them.

If you like horror, you may like the earlier Children of the Corn movies because like many sequels, the franchise (especially the long movie franchises, with like five or more titles released over several years) gets a little ridiculous toward the 4th film and beyond.

Ahh....the bohemian lifestyle in middle America. Always good for a creepy storyline!

And as for Stephen King, have you ever seen the tele-movie adaptation of The Stand. It has to be the book-to-movie adaption of any of King's works. M-O-O-N...that spells "Madlab Post".

Herman,

I think I heard of The Stand but I probably haven't watched it on TV.....will have to change that now though, huh? I'll rent or borrow it when I get a chance.

I must say this was a pretty corny post, but you offered a small cornucopia of ideas here.

Can't say one way or another about Children of the Corn, which is sad considering that I own a copy which sits unopened on my DVD shelf. Now you've encouraged me to open it to see if you're right.

Thanks for being a part of the A to Z Challenge.

Contrary to my usual practice of subscribing to comments, to save time during the challenge I will not be doing so at the moment. If you want to respond to my comment , please email me directly from your email notification for the comment.
Thanks. And I truly appreciate your efforts.

Arlee,, I had quite the chuckle reading your comment. I guess it's a good thing that there are more letters in the alphabet to go through so that you can eventually find a post that tickles your fancy. I'm curious to know why there is an unopened DVD on your shelf, for a movie that you haven't seen yet. I thought it was common to watch films in theaters, TV or rental before deciding whether to add them to a DVD collection or not.

However, I made some DVD purchases last year of movies I never saw and now wish that I skipped like one third of my purchases. Hey, I guess we're in the same boat of having unwrapped DVDs.

Enjoy Children of The Corn!

I HATE scary movies. Way too sensitive and once in my brain, can't get rid of images.
I am enjoying your blog, glad I found it!

Toby,

I understand your dislike for the horror film genre. I'm not much of a fan of scary movies either and have not watched many up to now but the ones that I did, most of them were because I was convinced to do so, like one time that I was visiting a friend who LOVES scary movies and she somehow got me to watch The Ring with her and some other movie (can't think of what it was right now but if I remember, then I'll probably either let you know or make it part of a future blog post for the challenge!) at her house. I wasn't home so I couldn't make the chief television programming watching decisions at someone else's house, you know, lol.

When I watched "Children of the Corn," it was because my older relatives were watching it and I was the kid, trying to be cool, trying to hang with the big kids.....have I learned my lesson? Probably not, lol.

Anyway, thanks for visiting and I'm glad that you like my blog here at The Madlab Post.
