NBC’s Heroes robbed by 2007 Emmy Awards

Jeff Vespa/WireImage.com
Ali Larter from Heroes was placed on the top ten Best Dressed List

The time has come to let TV fans and everyone else know what really went wrong at the 2007 Emmy awards. It was not the fact that this show took longer that it should. It was also not the fact that Wayne Brady and a few celebrity presenters were more entertaining than Ryan Seacrest. The winning selections are what went wrong with the 2007 Emmy awards show, particularly in the categories of Outstanding directing for a drama series, Supporting actor in a drama and Outstanding drama series. Heroes had Emmy nominations in all three categories and won none.

It is understandable if this NBC series was not given all three or even two Emmys, but none? Zero Emmys? If you did not watch the Emmys, there is nothing wrong with that. For those that did and are fans of Heroes or TV in general, you know what I am talking about. The Sopranos stole the show. Grey’s Anatomy and Ugly Betty had a good night, but The Sopranos took home two Emmys, leaving Heroes in the dust. That was one of the most absurd events that I have witnessed this year in prime time television.

No one is denying the fact that The Sopranos was a good show. I did not even watch many episodes of this HBO series. However, it was not difficult to tell that The Sopranos is a good show……when it was on air. The Sopranos is not even running on TV anymore. The series is over, it has ended and been placed on DVD. Therefore, why is the show getting prizes at the 2007 Emmy awards? This question is very important since Heroes is an awesome show that airs on NBC.

Heroes is still running on TV and provides lots of excitement for viewers of broadcast television. Many non-cable programs can be very boring, but Heroes is a great production. The storylines have lots of twists and turns and the cast is very talented. This show is also full of great special effects and deserves an Emmy award. I decided to watch the 2007 Emmy awards show because Mariska Hargitay was nominated in the Actress in a drama category for her role in Law & Order: Special Victims Unit and Kiefer Sutherland was nominated in the Actor in a Drama category for his role in 24. While neither of these actors won, I still wanted to watch the 2007 Emmy awards when realizing that Heroes had three nominations.

It was disappointing to witness actor Masi Oka lose the Emmy to Terry O'Quinn from ABC’s Lost for supporting actor in a drama series. It was no more fun noticing that director Alan Taylor won an Emmy for The Sopranos, taking the Outstanding directing in a drama series title away from David Semel of NBC’s Heroes. However, even with those disappointments, I continued to watch the 2007 Emmy awards. Lost is a good TV show, so there is definitely some competition there. I have seen a few episodes and would be a frequent supporter of Lost, if there weren’t already other TV favorites in place.

Good programs deserve awards, especially when they have a large audience. Lost has many fans, so the awards are fitting. However, after watching a long awards program that pushes local newscasts and every other scheduled show back for about 30 minutes, I wanted to see that at least, after all of the giveaways, Heroes would go home with the Emmy for Best Drama Series. Time passed, Ryan Seacrest put on a funny costume, Kanye West participated in an amusing ‘Don’t forget the lyrics’ competition with Dwight Schrute and Heroes cast members looked dazzling. The delightful Helen Miren announces that the winner for Best Drama Series goes to…..“The Sopranos”! I just may pull a Kanye West and boycott these awards in the name of a deserving TV show called Heroes.

First, it was one for Directing and now two Emmys? The Emmy award for Best Drama Series should not have been given to The Sopranos, a TV show that is not in production and not on air. Heroes was robbed of not one, but two Emmy awards. The third one is understandable because Lost deserves their props. They could have at least given one of those Emmys to Heroes instead of making the whole ceremony about a now defunct TV program about the mob. Instead, Heroes was robbed by the Emmys and robbed by The Sopranos.

Do you agree or disagree? Are you a fan of The Sopranos or Heroes or Lost? What did you think about the Emmys overall? Comments are welcome below.

Heroes airs Monday night at 9 on NBC
The Season Premiere is Monday, September 24, 2007 (Season 2)
Note: Buddytv lists Heroes as having eight Emmy nominations. These included categories for editing, Art direction, Sound Mixing and Stunts and Special Effects. They are in addition to the categories mentioned in the above post.

Hollywood actress Kimberly Elise is NOT Dead!

Recently, I found an article that revealed the recent confusion about Kimberly Elise being dead. This has seemed to become a very popular topic as of late. What makes this finding more ridiculous and disturbing is that current fans and non-fans also believe that she died from HIV/AIDS. It is one of the most absurd rumors about an actress that I have found recently. That is right, this is a false RUMOR. However, people are speculating and posting information on the internet that is incorrect and could not be further from the truth.

Apparently, fans believe that the actress Kimberly Elise is dead because of an episode of Girlfriends that she appeared in. What a stupid speculation that shows how one false piece of information (much like the Duane Martin Divorce drama) spreads like wildfire when people don’t try to find the facts and just believe anything that they read. Let’s get the facts straight now. First of all, Girlfriends is a fictional TV show that airs on the CW network. Kimberly Elise played the role of Toni (Jill Marie Jones) and Joan’s (Tracey Ellis Ross) high school friend who was infected with full blown AIDS from her husband.

The key word here is “Fictional”. A script was written, a character was produced and Kimberly Elise played the part. Now, popular online blogger Paula Neal Mooney’s article on this matter suggests that there is also some information circulating among TV viewers and fans that suggests this Girlfriends episode was based on a real-life woman who died from AIDS. I do not know much about that and really have no interest in doing further research on a person that one TV episode was based upon. The most important fact that everyone who has concerns and confusion about Kimberly Elise being dead needs to realize is that television is fake, for the most part.

What really makes me disappointed in TV viewers and many of the people spreading this information is that this particular Girlfriends episode was soooo last season. I have seen the episode when it aired and then again, probably 5 times already. Old episodes from the Girlfriends TV show is in heavy rotation. It is ridiculous that people are taking a rerun and making it current. The fact that television viewers and movie fans cannot separate real life from fiction concerns me and should also be of huge concern to every man and woman who cares about the kind of information that is being put out into the world.

If we are to believe everything that airs on TV, I guess Keifer Sutherland really was held hostage by the Chinese, Shemar Moore was molested when he was a child and Alana De La Garza really does have cancer. Then again, that would be stupid since she is on Law & Order with a new hairstyle. Come on people, think for a change!!! Kimberly Elise is not dead. In fact, she has two movies in post-production (For all of those that lack knowledge of certain film terms, it means that they are in their finishing stages,) and has been on Close to Home for over a dozen episodes. I guess none of you liars and confused TV viewers searching for “Kimberly Elise Dead” and “Kimberly Elise Death” would know that since you have been busy watching reruns of Girlfriends.

Here is a tip, turn to CBS once in a while. Do not be surprised to find Kimberly Elise alive and well. Then again, I wouldn’t recommend watching Cold Case on CBS for those who actually did believe that the Hollywood actress was dead from HIV/AIDS. For the ones that are still living in fictional TV land, just wake up and smell the coffee. As a matter of fact, stop watching TV and start reading a newspaper. There, you can find obituaries and more information related to what is actually happening in real life.

As always, if you are reading this post, you are welcome to leave your comments below. However, keep all of the lies and false information about Kimberly Elise at bay, because she is NOT dead and she does NOT have HIV/AIDS.

John Singleton involved in Car Accident...jaywalker killed

Yahoo news recently reported that film director John Singleton drove the vehicle that killed a jaywalker in California. The woman has been identified as 57 year-old Constance Russell. She was pronounced dead yesterday morning. The accident happened on thursday night when the woman stepped in front of John Singleton's SUV. A police spokesperson stated that John Singleton identified himself and was not under the influence of drusg or alcohol. The director was questioned and released. John Singleton has produced popular films of late, including "Hustle & Flow" starring Terrance Howard, "Black Snake Moan" with Samuel Jackson and Justin Timberlake and the upcoming film "Illegal Tender".

I am not too familiar with Illegal Tender, but have checked out some recent press clips that covered the film. The aftermath of fatal car accidents have not gone well for celebrities (R&B singer Brandy is going through a lot of legal trouble and drama as a result of her accident on the road). Hopefully, this does not affect John Singleton's career much, because he makes good movies. While it is NEVER a good choice to hit anyone on the road, we have traffic lights for a reason. Excuse me for possibly sounding rude here, but why is anyone walking in front of a moving vehicle. From the news report, John Singleton was driving an SUV.

That is a large automobile. Many of us probably have crossed streets and roads despite a clear red light or stop sign. However, this accident is one reason why that kind of behavior should stop. The same goes for drivers too because I have witnessed some very impatient and rude drivers on the roads who ignore traffic signs just as well. This needs to stop. How many people are going to have to die or get in trouble with the law for citizens to stop being careless?

Rather than go on about what should or shouldn't be considered appropriate road behavior, I am curious to know what you all think about this situation. Do you jaywalk? Are you a driver who "occasionally" ignored traffic signs? Are you going to see Illegal Tender? Are you a fan of John Singelton? If any of the abive applies, post your comments below.
